About

Founded in 1987, the WritersNL, formerly The Writers’ Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador, contributes to a supportive environment for writing in the province; works to nurture and inspire writers at all levels and stages of their careers; fosters public recognition of NL writers; advocates for the well-being of writers; and promotes the enhancement of the literary arts in the province and beyond.

WritersNL is a not-for-profit, member-based organization. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the writing/publishing sector. Visit our Membership page for details.

WritersNL is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, elected annually at its AGM/Conference, and by an Executive Director who works full-time in the WritersNL office. A Member Services Coordinator also works full-time as support staff.

WritersNL works to serve the needs of writers in the province. Since these needs are many and various, the organization reflects the diversity of the writing community. For information on the various programs, services and projects of WritersNL, please view our Programs section.
