Programming Assistant
Part-time (15 hours)
On site, downtown St. John’s 

Remuneration: $22/hr 

The Writers Alliance of Newfoundland & Labrador, operating as WritersNL, is seeking a qualified candidate to join our St. John’s, NL office in the role of Programming Assistant

Reporting to the Executive Director, this position requires on-site work at 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. Start and end times negotiable but will be within common business hours.  

Core Responsibilities 

  • Program Planning & Execution: Help administrate and implement our flagship programs and services in alignment with organizational goals; 
  • Administration & Operations: Oversee day-to-day logistics, maintain program and membership records, draft reports, filing, website updates (will train), etc.; 
  • Financial Management: Assist in monitoring program budgets, process incoming transactions (e.g., membership fees, entry fees, etc.), and assist where necessary providing information for grant applications; 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for members and the general public through in-office interaction, telephone, social media, direct mail campaigns, and our website. 

Key Requirements & Qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma preferred, or equivalent; 
  • Experience: Typically, 1 to 3+ years in program administration, project management, or a related field; 
  • Skills: Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills, along with an organization- and member-centric outlook on service; 
  • Tech Literacy: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google, light web work through WordPress, and video conferencing; 
  • Communication: Exceptional written and oral communication skills for reporting and stakeholder liaison.
