Jay McGrath

Jay McGrath is an author, originally from Branch, and currently residing in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador. Born into a community of storytellers, Jay has been putting pen to paper his whole life and enjoys writing fiction. He studied English, History and Business at Memorial University. His debut novel, We’d Rather Fight Than Eat was published by Flanker Press in 2023. Flanker Press released his second book, Hurricane House, in the summer of 2025. Jay was a judge for the 2024 Sheree Fitch Prize for Teen Writers out of New Brunswick and a judge for the Kiwanis High School Short Story Award in 2025.
