Claire Wilkshire is a writer, editor, teacher, and translator.
Claire studied English and French at Memorial and completed an MA at McMaster and a PhDin English literature at UBC. She taught English and French at Memorial University for 15 years before launching a new career.
Claire has edited or proofread a variety of documents, including the reports of the Cameron Inquiry and the Offshore Helicopter Safety Inquiry, as well as academic articles and theses (in fields such as business, education, engineering, literature, and mathematics), promotional materials for businesses, textbooks, cookbooks, novels, and stories.
As a translator, Claire works from French into English; her primary areas are health and insurance.
Maxine (Breakwater, 2013) is Claire’s first novel. Her short fiction has appeared in literary magazines.
Claire works with individuals and groups, in private, business, and community settings. She teaches French and offers workshops and instruction in English grammar and writing.
