Barry Porter
Born in the small farming community of Porterville, Barry Porter attended the 1 room school there, later getting bused into Lewisporte for grades 6-11. He has had a few careers, a welder (in northern Manitoba & Alberta), a photographer, manager/curator of the By the Bay Museum in Lewisporte, 23 years as a Lightkeeper for the Canadian Coast Guard & now an author!
Barry has driven across this great Canadian landscape many times, from Tilt Cove, NL to Dawson City Yukon to Victoria, BC, not to mention several motorcycle tours through the US. and trips to the Caribbean & Europe. Barry is happy to say he’s still attending the great ‘University of Life’. A proud father of two, big Dylan/music fan and a beagle lover, he resides in beautiful downtown Porterville with his wife Alice & beagle Lucy. Barry is the author of “Adventures of a Lightkeeper,” published by Flanker Press.
