WritersNL is delighted to announce our 2022 “Whisper Sweet Nothings” Romance Writing Contest Winners! 
This year’s contest was juried by Melanie Martin, Ryan Belbin, and Aj Ryan, using a “blind judging” process to remove any and all personal affections or biases in connection to the 40+ submissions received.

Original Call for Submissions:
(January 11, 2022) – We wanna know what love is… and we want you to show us!
Our highly anticipated annual romance writing contest is back and open to all WANL Members in good standing! The assignment is simple – Use your writing talents and skills to tell us a love story in your preferred genre of storytelling.
Writers of the top five selected submissions will take home the coveted first, second, third place + runners-up titles (and the accompanying financial prizes), and we’ll show your work off to all WANL Members via a special edition Valentine’s Day E-Zine!
This year’s prizes are:
1st place: $125
2nd place: $100
3rd place: $75
Runner Up x2: $50 each
How to enter the 2022 Valentine’s Day Writing Contest:
1) Write an original romantic scene up to 500 words.
Genre is open to fiction, non-fiction, poetry, playwrighting, film/TV script, sci-fi, children’s/young adult, mystery, comedy, thriller.
2) Ensure there are no identifying markers such as your name, contact info, etc., as a jury will be selecting our top submissions. (Jury details TBA!)
3) Submit your work to WANL via email in a .doc file format.
Send your steamy or sweet submissions to info@writersnl.ca using the subject line “WritersNL Valentines Day Submission 2022.”
Deadline for submissions is Friday, February 4th at 5 p.m.
The E-Zine is set to be released on Monday, February 14, 2022, just in time for the holiday of love.
