WritersNL’s 2025 Romance Writing Contest: Winner Announcement
(February 14, 2025) – Happy Valentine’s Day, folks! WritersNL is spreading the love today by announcing the winners of our Romance Writing Contest! Get ready to swoon over their stories, featured in a special edition E-Zine on WritersNL’s website and an Audiobook via WritersNL’s YouTube.
The 2025 Romance Writing Contest Winners are:
1st place: $250: Roadside Fireworks by Tanner Hudson
2nd place: $200: Gertrude’s Ecstasy by Christina Wells
3rd place: $150: I Maybe Kind of Love You by Olive Fortune
Runner Up: $50: Oh Whisk Me Away by Stephanie Boone
Runner Up: $50: Always and Forever by Amanda Marie Hull

Call for Submissions: WritersNL’s 2025 Romance Writing Contest
(January 10, 2025) – This contest is open to all WritersNL Members in good standing.
For this contest, WritersNL Members will use their writing talents and skills to tell a love story in their preferred genre of storytelling.
After writing, contestants are asked to record a reading of their original creation, audio only, for a special audiobook.
Writers of the top five selected submissions will take home the prizes below, and we’ll showcase the winning works via a special edition Valentine’s Day E-Zine + via an “audiobook” to be released on WritersNL’s YouTube.
The 2025 Romance Writing Contest prizes are:
1st place: $250
2nd place: $200
3rd place: $150
Runner Up x2: $50 each
This writing contest will be juried by previous Romance Writing Contest winners.
(Note: Jurors are ineligible to submit to the 2025 writing contest.)
How to enter WritersNL’s 2025 Valentine’s Day Writing Contest:
1) Write an original romantic scene up to 600 words.
Genre is open to fiction, non-fiction, poetry, plays, film/TV script, sci-fi, children’s/young adult, mystery, comedy, thriller, etc.
*One entry per person*
2) Record an audio file of yourself reading your original works. This audio clip will be premiered on WritersNL’s YouTube page as an audiobook presentation, giving greater accessibility to your piece.
3) Ensure there are no identifying markers such as your name, contact info, etc. in your written submission and audio clip, as a jury will be selecting our top submissions.
4) Submit your work to WritersNL via email: with the written portion in a .doc file format and the audio clip in an .mp4 format.
Note: 2024 Romance Writing Contest winners and 2024 Jurors are ineligible for the 2025 contest.

Deadline for submissions is Monday, February 3 at 11:59 p.m. NST.
The E-Zine and audiobook is set to be released on February 14, 2025 for the holiday of love!
