WANL Presents: Writers Union of Canada Information Session
September 9, 2019
St. John’s area writers! The Writers’ Union of Canada, in conjunction with the Writers Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador, are hosting a writers’ meeting with Writers’ Union of Canada’s Chuck Bowie!
Where: At the LSPU Hall in St. John’s, NL
When: Monday, Sept. 9th from 5:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.
Purpose: Writing is a solitary process, but writers need to know what is happening in writing and publishing, provincially and nationally.
All area writers are invited to attend a get-together, bringing questions as well as a curiosity about what is happening with Access Copyright, Public Lending Rights, and the flood of new materials onto Amazon (and what that might mean).
We’ll also chat about getting published, how to navigate publishing contracts, what the heck BlockChain is, and why we should care, and much more.
We hope to see you there. All writers are welcome.
Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

ABOUT CHUCK BOWIE OF WRITERS’ UNION OF CANADA
Chuck Bowie graduated from the University of New Brunswick in Canada with a Bachelor Degree in Science. Originally from Miramichi, he continues to live on the East Coast of Canada.
Growing up as an air force brat, his writing is influenced by the study of human nature and how people behave, habits he picked up as his family moved nineteen times in his first twenty one years. Chuck loves food, wine, music and travel and all play a role in his work.
His writing will often draw upon elements of these experiences to round out his characters and plotlines. Chuck is a member of The Writers’ Federation of NB as well as acting as the Atlantic Rep on National Council for The Writers’ Union of Canada. Chuck will at times share his thoughts with a brief essay, some of which can be found on his website. (http://wwwchuckbowie.ca)
His publisher has released the fourth novel , set in St. Andrews By The Sea, entitled The Body On The Underwater Road in the international suspense-thriller series: Donovan: Thief For Hire. This follows Steal It All, Three Wrongs and AMACAT. All of his published novels have been paperback best-sellers in New Brunswick. He has just completed the first novel in a new cozy mystery series, set in a fictional town in New Brunswick, and is finishing Book 5 in his Donovan series.
Chuck and his wife Lois live in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He’s just completed a stint as Writer in Residence at the Kingsbrae International Residence for the Arts, 2019.
