Podcasting and Audiobooks for Beginners

In a world where audiobooks and podcasting is becoming an ever-increasing and popular way for writers to self-promote and sell their books, it can seem overwhelming for those that have no background or experience in recording and editing.

Outsourcing the editing and recording process can be very pricy, but with a few simple lessons, there is no reason that an author can’t record their own work from the comfort of their home.

With over 15 years of experience in audio recording and editing as a journalist and radio broadcaster, Sarah will help simplify and demystify the process of recording from a home studio including information on the equipment required and how to use free editing software to achieve your goal.

Duration: 1.5 hours (with questions)

11-11:15: what equipment you need and do not need to be able to record podcasts and audiobooks from home and how to get started without spending a lot of money.

11:15-11:30: discussion on what recording programs are available and why free is just as good as paid in the case of these types of endeavours.

11:30-12:00: a brief introduction to how to use some of the more popular free software. When to use production values, what ones to avoid and why you don’t need to use anything more than single track recording at this level of production, plus tips and tricks for when you make mistakes.

12:00-12:30: clue up of the editing process, followed by a question and answer period.

An author, playwright, director and former broadcast journalist, Sarah has been writing and telling stories since she was old enough to put pen to paper. She has taken a focused approach over the last two years to try to turn writing into a full time job, including the development and publication of her debut novel which reached best seller status on Amazon in multiple categories in the first week of release.
