TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE: “Patterns Make Poems:” A Workshop on Poetry Craft with Andreae Callanan
April 17, 2021 at 1 p.m.
Please note: Registration for this event closes on April 16 at 6 p.m. NST.
What makes a poem a poem?
Big question! One answer is patterns: the patterns that emerge through the repetition of sounds and silences, the visual patterns made by lines on the page, the patterns of thought that move from the poem’s first line to its last.
In this workshop, participants will learn to tune in to the patterns that surround us, and to use those patterns to shape their poetic ideas into fully formed poems.
We’ll get comfortable with the time-tested tools of rhyme, meter, and refrain, and if that sounds scary, don’t worry: we’ll definitely have a few laughs along the way.
