Outreach Reading with Prajwala Dixit

November 7, 2018

PRAJWALA DIXIT is our third scheduled reader in our Outreach Readings Series. She will be reading “Until Death Do Us Apart”, a retelling of the story of Savitri and Satyavan, at Cambridge Estates today on Diwali (November 7), the Hindu festival of lights.

Prajwala is an emerging, immigrant, visible minority, Indian-Canadian writer offering the audience a diverse and fresh perspective through her narratives. She is an engineer by education and a full-time parent by vocation who currently writes for the CBC and Le Gaboteur. A polyglot (currently on her seventh language), she is either found running behind her toddler, writing, volunteering or trying to solve all of humankind’s problems. And if there is ever any time to spare, she spends it wisely by catching up on Bollywood!

If you’d like to join in on the Diwali festivites, Prajwala is currently selling #DiyasForDiversity. Profits from each diya sold will be used to buy global books, braille books, audiobooks, and Indigenous books for the NL Public Libraries Children’s Library. Email diyasfordiversity@gmail.com to place your order.

Prajwala is also seeking local celebrities and notable names who might be interested in signing diyas. Get in touch with her if you’d like to lend your name to a good cause!
