Position: Program Coordinator – Year for the Arts
Duration: 6 months – Part-time position
Compensation: $15,000
Location: Remote

About WritersNL: 
WritersNL is a non-profit association dedicated to supporting and promoting the literary arts in Newfoundland and Labrador. As part of our commitment to fostering a vibrant writing community, we are seeking a motivated and organized individual to assist us in delivering two exciting initiatives for the Year of the Arts 2024.

Job Description:
The successful applicant will play a key role in coordinating WritersNL’s programming for the Year of the Arts 2024. This includes managing our regional writer-in-residence program and the Writers in Schools Program. The Program Coordinator will work closely with WritersNL’s Executive Director and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of these initiatives.

Key Responsibilities: 
• Coordinate the regional writer-in-residence program, including liaising with NL public libraries and selecting established NL writers for residency positions.
• Organize the Writers in Schools Program, facilitating visits by NL writers to schools across the province and coordinating payment for their time.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director and other team members to promote both programs and engage with the writing community.

Requirements: 
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with the literary community in Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Qualifications: 
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Creative Writing, Arts Administration) or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience coordinating programs or events, preferably in the arts or non-profit sector.
• Knowledge of grant writing and fundraising principles (preferred but not required).
