WritersNL and the City of St. John’s are celebrating National Poetry Month together in 2023!

Leslie Butt is an indigenous Canadian, business owner, and mother of 3. Her body of work includes award winning debut novel Tanked, poetry collection Bring on the Dark and novella fifteen. Tanked received the 2022 Indigenous Voices Award and was shortlisted for several other awards nationally. 
Her spoken word poetry performances have been attended in various venues throughout Canada, and she has been given a variety of awards and accolades for her poetry. Her new yet to be published work includes the novel Jellybean Reservation and poetry collection Duality. An excerpt of her novel Tanked can be found in the anthology Carving Space, published by Stewart & McClelland, which will be available for sale in May 2023.
