I cannot remember a time when I didn’t have several stories competing inside my head. Anyone who writes knows this is both a gift and a curse. But I’m happy to say, I did harness one of those stories and carry it the distance. My latest completed project was inspired by my hometown in Trinity Bay and my love of its coastal trails. It is a YA novel that blends speculative elements with Newfoundland and Labrador folklore, and explores themes of survival (surviving grief, ruptured relationships, and a dying rural community).

I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a French major and an English minor from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador (St. John’s, NL) and a Bachelor of Education degree from Queen’s University (Kingston, ON). During a long-time career in a Federal Government Agency, I worked as a technical writer flexing my writerly muscles, as best as anyone could, writing communiques, training guides, and user manuals. Most recently, I completed a Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing at Humber Polytechnique (Toronto, ON).

In my free time, my squirrel-brain makes me hop between hobbies: hiking, painting, playing guitar and ukulele, yoga, and reading, of course. And on fine days, I can be spotted pedaling my jazzy aqua-blue bike on the lovely trailways of Conception Bay South, working out plotlines in my head.
