Connie Boland
Award-winning journalist, writer, and communications professional Connie Boland was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. I liked the city so much I still live here. I worked for 10 years as a newspaper writer and editor, then branched out into freelance writing.
I have written for Today’s Parent, Saltscapes, Atlantic Business, and Downhomer magazines, The Evening Telegram, and The Western Star. I was twice a finalist for Atlantic Journalism Awards in the magazine and newspaper categories, and received Canadian News Awards for Outstanding Editorial Achievement.
After more than 20 years working as a communications manager with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Memorial University, Kids Eat Smart Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador, and other organizations, I am happily returning to my first love – creating stories.
When not writing for fun and for profit, I can be found hiking or snowshoeing (depending on the season), learning to run, or hanging out with my family – two daughters, one grandson, one dog, one cat, and one husband.
I have diplomas in Journalism, and Adult Learning and Post-Secondary Education, and certificates in Business Administration, and Post-Secondary Instruction. I plan to finish an undergrad degree in 2020.
