Edmond Dantes

Edmond Dantès began, appropriately enough, with images. He initially studied Fine Arts at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila before earning degrees in Comparative Religion and Philosophy from Our Lady of the Angels Franciscan Seminary, followed by degrees in Sacred Theology and Biblical Studies from Maryhill School of Theology.

Now based in Newfoundland, Edmond writes biblical works, literary essays, and fiction. His forthcoming fiction will appear in Queen’s Quarterly. He has also completed an unconventional translation of the Four Gospels from the original Koine Greek and is now preparing his own illustrations for its independent publication.

At edmonddantes.ca, he curates an iconoclastic literary and theological blog where Scripture intersects with history, art, music, pop culture, and controversy. His work engages with beauty, memory, the uncanny, difficult questions, ancient texts, and those moments when inherited language begins to fracture.

And yes, Edmond Dantès is his real and legal name, not a pen name. Despite the inevitable associations with Dumas, he has not yet devised any grand and elaborate scheme of vengeance.
