Susan Drodge

1978 marked the beginning of Susan Drodge’s writing journey when, at the age of 10, she read Harriet the Spy a dozen times, inspiring her to spy on neighbours and record her every thought and observation. What tales that girl could tell. Then, puberty distracted her, and she became waylaid for almost 50 years. A creative writing degree, some published poems and prizes, a Ph.D. in English, sensible job, and two kids later, she has re-found her path, and there is a story she needs to tell. A story that began for her when, at six months old, she was rocked to sleep by her mother’s 22-year-old first cousin, who, within 24 hours, would be stabbed by her ex-boyfriend 60 times.
