Steve Hugh Westenra

Steve Hugh Westenra is a trans author of fantasy, science fiction, and horror (basically, if it’s weird he writes it). His books include the queer horror comedy, The Erstwhile Tyler Kyle; the epic fantasy, The Wings of Ashtaroth; and the sword and sorcery novella, The Barbarian at Dream’s End (Brackenbury Books). His short story, “The True Tale of Yehawellon Son of Serpents, Saltwater Be My Blood and Cedarwood My Skin,” appeared in New Edge Sword and Sorcery #6. His upcoming novella, Breadcrumbs on a Forest Floor is a work of folk horror about a trans man from outport Newfoundland who was taken by the fairies as a child only to wake up years later on the grave of the changeling who replaced him.

Steve  grew up on the eldritch shores of Newfoundland, Canada. He holds advanced degrees in Russian Literature, Medieval Studies, and Religious Studies, with a PhD in monsters. He has taught the History of Satan; Religion and its Monsters; and Magic, Witchcraft, and Religion. He is a judge in the SPFBO and SFINCS indie writing competitions.
