Peter Barnes
Peter is a poet, and is a quiet, contemplative, person, who does his best to care for himself and the wider community. He practices meditation and has a small counselling professional practice as a Psychospiritual Therapist in St. John’s and online, specializing in grief and bereavement, mental health, and spiritual companioning. He is a Certified Canadian Counsellor, and member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, as well as an Emeritus Certified Member of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care.
He’s a volunteer with a faith community, a Board member with L’Arche Avalon, a Board member and founder of Anamcara Contemplative Centre Inc., and a member of a Poetry Group. He’s also a Trained Labyrinth Facilitator and hosts a weekly Labyrinth Walk in Cupids and online. He enjoys hiking, writing poetry, playing violin, labyrinth walking, yoga practice, making friends, exercise and connecting with family, friends, and colleagues. He’s a published author, presented numerous workshops, and he has received a variety of awards, including the Sharon Carstairs Award of Excellence in Advocacy in Palliative Care.
