Daniel Burton

D.S. Burton is a horror and weird fiction writer, filmmaker, and editor from Petty Harbour, Newfoundland, studying creative writing at the University of New Brunswick. His fiction appears in Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, On Spec 2026: New Canadian Literature of the Fantastic, Engen Books’ Suburban Gothic anthology, Slash Magazine, Night Shades, 365tomorrows, and elsewhere. His short film Faceless won him Best Screenplay, and won Best Lead Actor and Best Supporting Actor at the 2025 New Brunswick 48-Hour Film Competition.

He has been a WritersNL and WritersNL Youth Committee member since 2017, and is a 2024 Currie Scholar, 2024 ArtsNL Equinor ArtsSmarts Scholar, and 2026 artsNB Career Development grant recipient. He edits for The Brunswickan and reads fiction for Okay Donkey. Learn more at dsburton.com.
